In 1984, I started on my fitness journey with Manitoba Fitness Council and taught many classes for 25 years, as well as attended numerous conferences and workshops in fitness and healthy living.
To this day, I continue that training and knowledge and maintain my certifications with Manitoba Fitness Council, Certifications include: Group Fitness, Resistance Training, Older Adult, YogaFit, and MFC Evalutor of fitness leaders. I enjoy this side of my background as it helps me to see things from a safety perspective, exercise science as well as understanding anatomy and movement.
During all these years, I started taking yoga classes with an interest in what this was all about. In 2004, yoga was being explored but not in the boom it is now in 2018. I took many different types of classes, exploring what I liked and spent years at 2 yoga studios, keeping my practice consistent. After sometime, I continued that path and started with Susie Dias training from Toronto, and then later Maureen Rae to further enhance my education. To me, this was a stepping stone and the baby steps to my yoga journey.
In 2012, I took the leap and completed my 200Hour Yoga Teacher training with Source Yoga, Dillon Cherret, teacher. This 3-week extensive training gave me the foundational structure to teach Hatha, Vinyasa, PowerYoga, Restorative and Yin Yoga. Since then, I have been with the Yoga Centre in their Advanced Training Professional Development program for the last 5 years. The training with the Yoga Centre covers many areas of yoga and continues to expand my education and training.
In 2017, I also took Yin Yoga training from the Yoga Centre, through Candace Popp. In 2014, I also added Thai Yoga to my Certifications and completed the training with Drew Hume, Navina School of Yoga Therapy. I continue to take continuing education with Navina and am thankful to Drew for his continued support, encouragement on this new path in my career. Yoga is my place of peace from our busy world, and I teach to share that love of being peaceful inside and out, and enjoy helping others in their life journey.
I can be found teaching classes in St.James and St.Boniface, at Sturgeon Heights Community Centre as well as BeYoga. I also have a business background in Business Administration, Management Development, and Marketing. When I am not teaching yoga, I can be found working in business administration to serve and share my knowledge in this additional side of my life.
